This item in the Digital Reading Room (DRR) won't open. What should I do?
Answer
Many online course readings are kept in the Library's Digital Reading Room (DRR).
Access
- Once you have registered for a course at AU, your access to items in the DRR will begin 30 days prior to your course start date.
- You will have access to these readings for 14 days after your course closes.
- If you are a student in the Faculty of Business, your DRR access begins 14 days prior to your course start date, and ends 7 days after your course closes.
Problems
Some items (PDF, scanned book chapters etc.) available in the DRR will download to your browser.
Where you can access these downloads will vary based on the browser you are using and your browser settings.
Google Chrome example:
Once you have accessed your course in the DRR , click on the item title/citation. If the item record does not open, then it may have downloaded to your browser.
Click on the download icon, located on the right-hand side of screen next to the URL, and then select the item from the "Recent Download History".
If you are are still having trouble accessing material, please try:
- Clicking the link a second time
- Clearing your cache and cookies
- You can also try incognito mode
- If neither of these work try a different internet browser, if a link doesn’t work in Chrome it will often work in Firefox and vice versa.
If none of these options work, please report this error by clicking on the "Report a Broken Link" button on the top right corner of the DRR page. When you report broken links, please include the unit that the reading is in, as well as the title and author of the reading.
